Hotrock 24 sheared crank pedal hole suggestions.

Hi, my daughter has a Specialized Hotrock 24 and we did a pedal swap a while ago. One pedal went on fine the other was a bit problematic and had to be forced on (stupidly in hindsight). I just put it down to the pedal thread not being great. The pedal lasted a while but came loose and off. The threading for the pedal on the crank arm is damaged and won't take the pedal now. Probably won't take any pedal to be fair. Am i looking at a new crankset/arm which is a truativ isoflow 165mm 42 tooth Or is there another solution? A way of re-threading the hole or is it not worth it. Will any 175mm 42 toothed crank set or top fit. The reason I ask is the current one has no guard either and was sometimes scratching her leg, so would try to get one with a guard if poss if it was a straight swap affair. Cheers in advance. Not done much maint on bikes since I was a kid really so pardon any naivety

Any half decent bike shop should be able to repair it .

You can put in a helicoil type repair (remembering that the left pedal has a reverse thread) but if you don't already have the kit, its probably going to be cheaper/easier to get a shop to do it.
