Help with (old) BMC frame size guide

Hi all, first time over on the ‘dark side’ so be gentle with me!!!

Searching for a MTB for my niece. Saw one of these for sale http://www.evanscycles.com/products/bmc/teamelite-te02-2011-mountain-bike-ec024700, which I know is quite old, but if in decent condition it might fit the bill for riding onto Cannock Chase and doing some trails - nothing technical, just for fitness.

Trouble is I can’t find a size guide anywhere online. It’s an XS frame and she is 5’7”. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Cheers all.

Pete (roadie), sorry, did I just swear? :o

Sizing is about what fits the rider, I have short legs for my height so often need to go up a frame size to get the right reach (frame length) for my torso length, my eldest has the same issue, my son the opposite.

If she's on the leggy side I think the shorter XS frame would be right, if she's not she may be better with a small - especially if she's still growing.

You won't be able to tell by sitting her on it as she'll probably want to sit more upright than you should on an MTB (weight onto the front wheel for grip).

On the plus side, maybe you can get an MTB and go out for a ride with her and start to enjoy cycling (roadies, of course, all look miserable when riding). ;-)
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.
