Canyon snapped seat post bolt.

Hi all.
Literally only noticed this today when going over my bike but the seat post bolt end has snapped/ sheared off.
Attached is picture.
Any idea how on earth this happened?
Going to email canyon about this as I'm guessing this shouldn't haplen
Bike in question for those interested is canyon aeroad slx cf.
