Isla cnoc 16 tyre upgrade suggestions

Hi, my daughter has started to gain a lot of confidence riding single-track in the woods. I'm looking to upgrade the tyres on her cnoc, as the standard ones are very narrow and lack grip.
Can anyone recommend any tyres that they have upgraded too?
I have looked at a continental explorer set 16/1.75, I wondered if anyone knew if these would be too wide?
