Shifting on my rear mech has just started becoming a little hit and miss and after a little messing to get it smoother I by chance noticed that the cable outer is cracked and displaying signs of rust.

I guess this is not helping and they are 5 years old :#

Never having replaced cables, should I just go for Shimano (105) or are there better alternatives.

Any top tips in the procedure?

  • Treat the bike and get new cables, they've served you well for 5 years! :)
Any Shimano ones with the ptfe (?) coating are fine.
