What to buy?

I'm currently riding a 2005 Jamis Nova cyclocross for my road riding. I like it and it's fine for how I ride (~25 miles, suburban rides, some hills). However, I'm looking to upgrade to a true road bike. I'm being guided by my local bike fitting professional towards a BMC roadmachine. Which look great. I'm curious if anyone can give guidance if the upgrade from the roadmachine 01 to 02 is worth it. Also, if I'm going to spend the money for the 01, should I look at other bikes like the Cervelo R5? Any feedback is appreciated!

I think buying a bike is very personal preference so giving advice is not easy.
but before buying you ought to know and familiarise yourself with the shimano groupset tier hierarchy.
the more gears the higher the price but better ride experience.
Also I know many people say that your first road bike ought to be aluminium for the first 5 years of riding
