Hi, can anynone recommend a relatively inexpensive pair of bib shorts up to £60 or so, please?
I’m a “for fitness” road rider, most rides are 50km or so with the occasional 100km plus thrown in.
Thanks.

Dhb from Wiggle will probably sort your need.1

Galibier also worth a look.0

I have several decent pairs that I’ve spent too much money on but to be honest, some of the best ones I’ve had and still got are the Rivelo honister bibs from sportspursuit.
Still £49.990 -
DHB Aeron with the 7hour pad are £55 at the moment

You could also get 2 for £90 with code ACTIVE011 -
Check out Pactimo kit. Very good quality and similar in fit and comfort to DHB kit. Have pairs of bibs from both Pactimo & DHB and wouldn't go anywhere else for shorts at the price point they are offered in.0

Thank you, all, will look at all those0

I second the Decathlon bib shorts with the blue pad - the dearer ones.

Galibier are well worth a look.
Didn't get on with the Rivelo ones personally.
La Passione are worth a look.
I hammer these Endura bib shorts on the turbo, and here in narrow and wide pads for only £49.99 (down from £120), plus they generally always have a £5 off code pop up.

As mentioned above, Galibier and Pactimo. I have a couple of pairs from each, both brands fit me well and (importantly) are lasting well. Galibier in particular is amazing value for what you get, and Pactimo have decent sales every now and again (unfortunately you've just missed one). They both size up a bit smaller than DHB, in my experience
I've found DHB a bit variable in the last couple of years, particularly the aeron kit. It's been great to start, but not coped well over time and the lycra has frayed after a year or so . The last shorts I had from them was about two years ago, so they may have improved since then. I had a similar issue with entry level Castelli shorts.0 -
Speaking of Castelli, somewhere online had the excellent Endurance bib shorts that come with the amazing (to me) progetto x2 pad, for sale at £57, if any one can recall where?
just searched and failed to find, though prices may have gone back up of course.Felt F70 05 (Turbo)

Ive had a bad experience with the dhb aeron Roubaix shorts - the pad is terrible. Actually painful after 10 miles on the bike. Worse than no pad at all. Everything else from dhb has been quite comfy (classic and blok mostly -the cheaper ranges).
The offending pad is called the "Tour HP Air chamois"0 -
Unfortunately we are in personal preference territory here.
My preference might be your nightmare. The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.0 -
Nearly bought a pair of the ~£60 Holdsworth Pro bib shorts or ~£50 EC130 Aero bib shorts last night from PX in the latest sale, but not much feedback made me hesitant.================

Castelli come up small. VERY small.1

This is very true. I'd consider myself of the tall / skinny variety & I usually take a Large or even XL is Castelli shorts so God knows how larger frames cope.FrankYates said:Castelli come up small. VERY small.

I'm not skinny nor overweight but am over 6' tall. I normally take large. My XL Castellis are at least two sizes too small. I only wear them as a last resort, so if you want them...0

Although Castelli do come up small I only find them one size out, I am 5’10 slim and large fits me well in most castelli clothing. In Assos Medium is a perfect fit.0

Conversely I am 5ft 10, and have always been able to fit into Castelli size small bib shorts and tights, and that's at 70kg, I should be more like 65 alas
In some other makes, model dependent, I can go xs - Endura fs260, Rapha lightweight, 7mesh, so I guess in that respect it echoes the '1 size smaller' findings.Felt F70 05 (Turbo)

Rivelo Honisters, on Sportspursuit for £49 quid, in a range of colours, as well as plain black. Medium Rivelo = Large Castelli IME
Just worn mine for a gravel ride today as confess I'd forgotten I had them in the cycling kit drawer. Easily as good as as the Castelli Endurance X2 bibs I've been using the past few days, and thicker more hard wearing lycra...
