bottom bracket length

in MTB workshop & tech
replacing my bb. im curious for what use a 127mm length is used for? triple chainset shimano is standard 122mm.

    I had a 127 on a bike, can't recall the chainset make/model though (I think it was on a circa 2000 Giant)
    Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.

    Something like a Stronglight triple sounds likely.
