Giant Defy Advanced Post Mount Mechanical Disc Brakes - upgrade to Hydraulic
I have a Giant Defy Advanced 3 from 2016 which is fitted with the stock Tiagra 4700 10 speed shifters and mechs and TRP Spyre mechanical disk brakes.
The caliper mounts on the frame are Post Mount, which makes things tricky as most brakes now appear to be flat mount !
Love the bike so considering an upgrade to hydraulic disc brakes and hoping for some advice on which STI shifters and POST MOUNT calipers to go for - happy to move to 11 speed.
Hope someone can advise ?

Not sure it’s possible. This is a good article:

Edit. Actually, ignore me. Was trying to be helpful but hadn’t read your question properly

Thanks, think they would work in terms of calipers, need to look up which shifters they are compatible with0

A cheaper and less complicated way of upgrading may be to upgrade to a hybrid system like TRP Hy/Rd or Juin Tech. It'd means that you can keep using the same shifters and should provide better braking.

I’d imagine they’d be fine with any including the newer generation of shifters0

Seems like they’ll work fine. Having recently fitted the R7020 shifters I can highly recommend them!

I had a similar issue with a Kinesis Crosslight - I wanted to replace the existing cable disc brakes with something better, but the post mount frame was making finding something suitable a challenge.
I followed the advice above to try the Juin Tech R1 hybrid calipers, and so far I am really impressed. Easy to fit and plenty powerful enough.
