Bent derailleur hanger or derailleur?

So 2 days ago i crashed my bike and it felt on the side with the derailleur. It wasn't a hard crash but now i cant shift properly (even after a lot of adjustment) and i think i bent something. Down are some photos of the derailleur ,so if you can say if the hanger or the derailleur is bent ,thank you.





(I dont know why the quality of the photos is so bad because in the phone they are 4k.)

You need to check it with a hanger alignment tool. If you don’t have access to one you may be better taking it to a bike shop and get them to do it or buy a new hanger and replace the bent one.

Thank you very much. I will buy a new one because all stores are closed because of the pandemic. I was not sure if the hanger or the derailleur is bent.

He waffles on a bit but this idea sorted mine out satisfactorily, just take your time

The ParkTool derailleur hanger alignment tool is an outstanding bit of kit. Works really well and is quick and easy to use, as long as you read the instructions first!

My LBS used to use their alignment for me and only charged me £10 per go. But it was the inconvenience of it that persuaded me to buy the tool. Also, the instructions say to get it within 3mm, which is what the LBS was doing. I took a bit of extra time to get it spot on and it was worth the effort.

Make sure that all parts are present. The first one I bought had an essential bit missing.

I should have also said as the hanger is a sacrificial part its worth having a spare in your shed. They can be expensive little pieces, but if you look carefully through the specifications and can identify your particular hanger you can order a cheap spare unit on here:

It does take a little patience to find the right one, but I recon most folk have a little time on their hands right now

Have you checked your qr hasn't been knocked in the fall and moved the wheel slightly?
Undo the qr and seat the wheel to make sure.
