Edge 500 inaccurate

Hi

I still using my favourite old edge 500 for riding. Last few rides i've noticed that my strava segments not match anymore (a lot of them). When i look closer, it looks like I go off the road and ride near road, make large bends,etc...
What happened with GPS? Will factory reset helps..or is device for retire.

I’m not familiar with the Edge 500 specifically. But you could check that the software/firmware is up-to-date as devices do need to be kept abreast of changes from time to time. Also a check of the settings wouldn’t go amiss. Accuracy of position does rely on the number of satellites ‘in view’ at any one time, the more you have the better/more accurate your position. The same applied to your mobile phone of course

I have an 820 and my son has my old 500. We ride a lot together and most of the time the totals and routes are very similar. Sometimes 800m (distance) different over 60km rides.
