My position is pretty much the same as PilotPete. Pedal Cover were about the same as other Home Insurance quotes, but included full bike cover.
I pretty much wrote off a DA Cervelo R5 a couple of years ago, and they paid up without quibble, enough for me to buy a complete new replacement. No complaints here, their customer service was very good.

The cover also includes house buildings and contents, for about £200 pa more than we were previously paying just for house insurance. I also pay about £20pa for an excess policy - this means it covers any excess on ANY insurance policy I have. So now I take a high excess for my car insurance to get the price nice and low and the excess is covered if I have to claim. Same with the bike insurance. It also covers pet policies etc etc.

Interesting, Who have you got this excess policy with, I've been looking for one and can't find one that covers all.

You have to be clever with it though as you can only make one claim per year.
Go early and lose out on a bigger claim later, or wait for a bigger claim that never comes and lose out?
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

Or alternatively you can just claim and then purchase another excess policy.
