Road or Gravel Wheels?

In terms of a new set of carbon disc wheels what is the difference between the Road set and a Cyclo-cross/Gavel set? I'm thinking perhaps the width of the rim to accept larger tyres but price for price is there any real difference?

There is not necessarily any difference.

Gravel wheels may have wider rims as you say and may have more spokes and tend to favour hubs that are better suited to poor weather/off road, but not in all cases.

Road wheels can be used on gravel and gravel wheels on the road.

I would say there's more of a continuum rather than a binary distinction between road and gravel.
Some race wheels might not be suitable for gravel use and some gravel wheels will be heavier and slower on road but in the middle there's probably wheels that will happily do both.

the 303 is an almost legendary cross over wheel, under some of the worlds best cross and road riders and staring in many gravel adventures too. Aero light and tough.
