Cadence measurement?

I'm enjoying (well type 2 fun) my ne Elite Suito and Trainer Road with my iPad. The combination shows and tracks my cadence but I can't see how it can measure (estimate?) my cadence? How accurate is the measurement (estimate?) likely to be? Would adding a Bluetooth cadence sensor be worthwhile?
Thanks.

You don't produce power evenly throughout the movement. You'll have two torque spikes corresponding to the downstrokes. It can measure those and from that you get the cadence. It should be quite accurate.
