Hey everybody I am trying to find a decent affordable mid layer for when the weather changes from needing a jacket but prior to T shirt weather, I am carrying a few Holiday pounds.....from a few holidays so needing something with a little room but probably looking at an XXL range of sizing. Any advice or experience would be helpful!

Get a windproof jacket that has a durable water repellent coating (DWR). Windproofs breathe much better than a waterproof, yet they keep you warm because they keep the wind off. The DWR will repel water splashes and will keep you dry during showers and light rain. If you keep the garment clean and reproof it from time to time, it will resist full on rain for a hour or more. If you wear elbow guards, make sure that you can get the jacket on with the guards in place. They don't need to be padded or lined with anything.
I have an excellent one from Regatta that I've had for about 8 years. I liked it so much that straight away I bought a spare as back up. I would recommend it 100% but sadly they don't make it anymore. I am out of touch with what is the current equivalent.
Endura have a range of lightweight windproofs, look for the breathability and waterproof ratings. Remember, you are not looking for a waterproof, but a windproof with DWR!1 -
In terms of sizing, I'm not sure if you are a real life XXL or a cycling XXL (ie. about 28" chest and 22" waist"!!).
Decathlon gear is good value for money and their XXL works up to a 48" chest if that helps. I find their stuff is excellent and wouldn't be unhappy with it even if it cost more. You can fool some of the people all of the time. Concentrate on those people.1 -

I really rate some of the Regatta clothing. Sensible products without the price tag.
My regular winter coat is a Regatta fully waterproof coat that keeps the elements out but also has pit zips to let some air in and really helps regulate your temp.
I have a softshell as well that is also really good.
Let us know how you get on with it."Ride, crash, replace"0
