Caad12 sizing

I recently put a post on this bike as I am thinking of buying one the problem I’ve got is that I can’t actually try one for size as local bike shops don’t have One I’m buying online so I was asking for advice on what size to get a 54/56 I’m 5 ft 11 and a bit with 32 inseam my previous bike was a cube attain gtc in a 56 whic I always thought was a tad on the small side I have checked caad geometry chart and it says a 56. But the stand over height On the 56 is same as my inseam so no room for error

I have an older CAAD12 (not sure if the latest one is the same geonetry).
The chart said 54cm for me so that's what I've got. It's a touch bigger than my previous bike: the height is ok, just less seat post sticking out but it does feel long (but not uncomfortable to ride).
I was going to try a shorter stem, but ordered the wrong one

I think there was a thread recently on supersix sizing - the supersix geometry used to be the same as the caad if you need more reference data.

54cm I’m the same dimensions as you and that’s what I ride

    I would go with a 56 deffo.

I’m exactly 6 feet tall & have a 86cm inseam, currently ride a 58 CAAD12 which I got ridiculously cheap as it was the last in the shop so they were basically giving it away.

It’s probably ever so slightly too big for me but not uncomfortable by any means. When I come to replace it I’ll get a 56.

At 5 feet 11 you are very near to the 56/58 border so I’d go with the lower.
  • I'm 5ft 9 on a 52! CAAD tends to size big. Have a look at the 54, especially given your standover height to be sure.

I'm basically exactly the same measurements as you. I ride a 56 CAAD 12 with a 120mm stem and it's great, fits me like a glove.

  • Thanks for everyone’s advice I’ve been to Evans cycles today and had a test on the caad 13 which I was told is same geometry as caad 12 the 54 was to small the 56 was perfect so I’m going to order the 56 from online shop

Same here - I had a 52 CAAD12, which fitted fine but I have a 54 Synapse which fits similarly.

so long as you are happy but I just find a 56 Caad/SS too long in the reach and you can't always tell that from sitting on the bike in the shop or a quick test ride imo.
  • The only thing I’m bothered about is the caad13 has a little bit more stand over than the caad 12 according to geometry chart. But as regards the reach it actually felt better than my cube attain and that’s on the small side for a 56
