Simple competition set up

Any ideas for using several smart trainers for competition racing. Old style roller racing sort of thing. We want to have a few trainers side by side and something that gives us a measurable winner after a short distance or time. Trainer Road and Zwift don't seem to work. Can we have a single Zwift account and have a timed section or a time to ride so far which we reset for each rider? No need for any graphics apart from the numbers.

You could use a Wahoo or Phone conencted.
Most trainers have their own app which you can plan routes and workouts on.

The Tacx one you can set gradients and distances, so would make your own hillclimb course and then just reset every time.

Aren't you overthinking it - so long as the resistance level is the same, all you need is a wheel speed sensor so you can see who has covered the most distance in the same space of time.

There's probably a way using an ANT+ adapter in your computer to display speeds on a screen as well, although that might be harder to engineer.

In TR you could have everyone do ramp tests side by side... Whoever gets the highest up the ramp wins... That would be really unpleasant though!

Fail to see how Zwift doesn't work for you? All you need is your individual screen be it iPad,phone, monitor etc. Select ride with and once you're all together set off. There's even Discord to allow you to talk to each other using your phones as kind of a radio link if you're in separate locations. You'd be riding the same route (provided nobody goes changing direction from the set route).

I ride a bike. Doesn't make me green or a tree hugger. I drive a car too.
