Right gear Shifter Shimano 105 no longer working

before I go and buy another right shifter, I cannot shift up! I changed cables still same result....if you see photo has a part snapped off? if I check my left shifter there is another metal plate contraption thingy....

    The little silvery bit should have a bit pointing forward that the downshift lever pushes to release a bit of cable.
    I don't see how it could have been broken with normal use. The hand in your photo looks more human than gorilla.

    ok thanks but I'm not clear has a part has gone? I can tell I find the 10 speed shifters famous for chewing up cables and also famous for not lasting like the 11 speed version.

    when did it stop working? Did the cable break at the same time and did you make sure you got the cable end out of the shifter as this can easily jam the mechanism.

    I had a similar issue last weekend with my 11sp Ultegra 6800 - see 3 pics on da 'gram.
