Odd Strava issue

Hello, first time posting anyhelp much appreciated.

My strava seems about right for whole rides but is giving very low segment times for some segments and flyby shows me consistently 500 meters or so behind people I'm cycling with for the entire ride.

The slow segments are usually climbs where I'm going fairly hard and show my speed varying massively for periods of the segment. Elivation data is shown as very lumpy.

I know times are slow as friends I finished ahead of have faster times.

Samsung/Android phone, have tried all the usual things. Turn on/off, not in power saving mode, clock settings are as normal - ie auto timezones.

The issue isn't there on all segments. Flyby thing seems to be there for all rides I've checked.

Different devices use different GPS. Garmin and other dedicated GPS devices are generally a lot more reliable than phones. Use the Strava elevation correction feature and your rides will be synced to the 'correct' elevation according to mapped data

  • Thanks for reply. I don't think my phone has barometric altimeter, so I don't get the option to correct. Presumably it's the map already. Also, it used to work fine as far as I could tell.
