Pair of disc wheels perfect for cyclocross, gravel, touring, or road riding.
Components and the wheel specification have all been selected for reliability, durability and strength, at a very reasonable weight for the money.
Borg22/Kinlin XR22 rims are tubeless compatible, wide and light. These rims feature offset spoke holes which helps to equalize spoke tensions with dished wheels (which occurs on both front and rear wheels with disc brakes).
The rims are 24mm wide (19mm internal) which is perfect for wider road and cyclocross tyres. The rims have very subtle black on black Borg22 branding.
Novatec hubs (D772SB, D771SB) come with sealed bearings to keep out the worst of the weather, and are easily replaceable when the time comes.
Currently setup for for 12mm through axles (142mm rear, 100mm front), but replaceable end caps are available for other setups. The freehub is 8, 9, 10, 11 speed Shimano compatible, and includes the spacer. The hubs are suitable for 6-bolt disc rotors.
32 Butted ACI Alpina spokes (2.0/1.7/2.0) per wheel, laced 3 cross.
The wheels have been tensioned, destressed, and tensioned again. Spokes on tubeless wheelsets are susceptible to a drop in spoke tension when a tyre has been fitted, so I’ve done that and then re-tension to ensure a long wheel life. This also ensures the supplied tubeless rim tape is properly secured.
Wheels come supplied with two layers of tape and valves, ready to go tubeless.
Weight, with two layers of rim tape, is 943g for the rear wheel and 718g for the front, at a total of 1661g.
