Upgrading 2014 Specialised Secteur X3 to Shimano 105

Hi all, first ever post on a forum. I'm considering upgrading my 2014 Specialised Secteur X3 to Shimano 105 so I can use it as a winter trainer. Wiggle have discounts on Shimano 105 at the moment which the bottom bracket compatibility is stated as Hollowtech II/press-fit. The Secteur seems to have a Shimano Octalink and being new to this I'm not sure if this is compatible (and if not what my options are) therefore just wondering if anyone would be able to give me some guidance?

Thanks in advance!

If you're replacing the whole groupset then you'll need the new bottom bracket (HT II) to go with the new crankset.
If you don't have the tool to remove the Octalink then you'll probably be better off going to a LBS and asking them to remove it - if you buy the new BB there and take the bike in ready to be worked on they may even do it for the price of the BB - generally it is a 5 minute job - once it's prepped.

IIRC, Secteurs usually came with 3 chainrings - so ideally you'd be looking to replace it.

With the new 105 - I assume you're talking 11 speed - make sure your freewheel is compatible.

Then the only question is - why do you need to replace it so you can use it as a winter trainer? I'm still using Tiagra 3x9 on a tourer/winter. I only upgraded my Allez as the groupset was shot (it was 2x8) - and going 2 x 10 meant the wheels would be interchangable - handy when you get the bike out and you've got a rear flat but no time to sort it.
