Benidorm cycling

I’m off on a family holiday to Benidorm for Easter and was wondering if it’s worth hiring out a road bike for a day while I’m there?

Yes lots of great roads out there. Inland from Benidorm lots of hills to go up. Calpe is just along the road which is a popular spot for pro training camps. Col de Rates is one of the famous climbs out there. Time yourself up it and compare what you can do to some of the big names.

Only thing you'll wish is that you hired it for more than a day. Absolutely fantastic riding there. The Aitana is literally ten minutes from Benidorm - among dozens of other climbs

We had a boys trip to Calpe for cycling.

We hired from these guys: https://www.velosolcycling.com/bar

Bikes were good and the service was good. Xalon or Jalon is not a bad place to ride out from.

The only problem with Benidorm is the main road to the best cycling areas (calpe, denia and inland from them). It's horrible. I think you'll be on it for about 15 miles if you head in that direction.

Yeah, AP-7 is not great. The stretch from the road that leads up to Callosa down to Calpe isn't that bad, but the other direction, leading down past Latea to Benidorm is grim. Ironically, generally because of the shitty British drivers.

Bahrain mclaren were out in Benidorm last week. Might be worth seeking out some of their routes on strava.
