2020 Canyon Grail AL launched

Canyon have launched the 2020 Grail AL model line up.
colours are broadly the same as 2019 (silver and green) but the green is now a matt flat green -
the 7.0 models come in SL with Rival 1x11 at £1700 (up £200 from last year) and a new 2x11 GRX R810/R600 mixed groupset at £1500

I think the GRX equipped 2x11 7.0 model is the pick of the crop

It looks like Silver is the only colour option for the AL 7.0 SL, but silver or green is available in the AL 7..
I went for the green AL 7.0 with GRX 2x11 :)
  • What do you think of them ?
Stick up some pics lads , I’m thinking of buying one myself .

I'm very disappointed Canyon have removed the rack mounts from the 2020 AL models :'(
Ive replaced the GRX 46/30 chainset with my P2M rotor 3D 50/34 compact chains - but I needed to replace the GRX front mech with a Ultegra 11sp front mech as the GRX FD sits 2.5mm further outboard than the road front mechs, and was rubbing the Road Rotor crank in the outer ring

That is a Small. 720mm from centre BB to top of mid saddle
    I'm 5'7 / 172cm with a 30cm inside leg and I normally ride a 53/54cm Road bike. ( My Cervelo c3 is a 54cm frame
  • Yeah that’s my size too - canyon run big. I presume you meant 30inch leg - Are you correct about your saddle height - 720 mm from bb to top of saddle along seatpost angle there. Seems a bit high for 30inch leg

    Yes, 30" leg"!! :p
I've been bike fitted a lot of times and I'm comfortable at 720mm, with 170mm cranks
  • How does it ride ? Lively enough ? How is the steering ? Quick like a cx bike Or more stable like a gravel bike ?

    it rides very well.
stable enough on the road, ok on trails - I've never ridden a CX, so can't compare, but I think it does what it says on the tin and is a good compromise between road and trail.

for those interested, as Canyon removed the rack mounts from the the 2020 Grail AL i have mounted my Tubus fly rack on my 2020 Grail AL using 13mm rubber coated p-clips that fit perfectly on the lower seat stay (i tried 14mm and 15mm p-clips and they were too large) and i changed the seat clamp for one that has a threaded rack mount on it.
    seems solid as a rock.
