how long for a post to be approved by moderators

how long does it take a post to be approved by moderators before appearing?
I made a post at 10am today and there is still no sign of it at 1800hrs. :(

    Also, what are the rules for a post to go to moderation - it doesn't seem to make any sense!!

    I believe editting a post more than once will trigger moderation.
