And Z-n will get in because y'know Eton and Daddy0

That's odd, as the interview usually comes well before the A level results and they make a conditional offer post interview if they want you. Was she doing a gap year application or something?pinno said:

In other good news, we just found out that Stropteen has got a uni interview at Cambridge next month
3 interviews, then a conditional offer of at least A*AA I would think for Cambridge.
My niece was turned down for Bio-Chem despite 3 A's at a Cambridge Uni after interview.
Met a guy who had a D in A level English, no more and he got in.
Their criteria (my head of section at Uni used to be an Oxford lecturer) is not always based on qualifications; they try to asses where the student is (at the point of interview) on the learning curve.
X will get through on results, Y will get in because they are overseas students paying megabucks and Z will get in on interview merit.
As for overseas students paying £35k a year to study here, what a great British export."I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." [George Best]0 -
No, but she did end up in Edinburgh.Stevo_666 said:

Very odd, or a bit of BS. There’s something they’re not saying. They wouldn’t give a place in bio-chem on the hunch the prospective student is about to develop brains with nothing to back it up.Stevo_666 said:

Forgot to ask yesterday; where did she get the offer from/what course?veronese68 said:
Good luck to her, and the two of you. Female child got a good offer from her preferred uni so is happy. Went to her parents evening last night, it was almost embarrassing they were singing her praises so much. She definitely takes after her mother.Stevo_666 said:In other good news, we just found out that Stropteen has got a uni interview at Cambridge next month
I do believe it being Wednesday I will be going to the pub later."I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." [George Best]0 -
Well done to the uni kids0

Offer was ABB to do psychology at Sussex. It was her favourite of the uni's we went to see and fortunately she also liked the course as it had a good degree of flexibility. Others she either liked the uni or the course but not both. She's predicted As or A*s so she should manage to get in if she keeps working.Stevo_666 said:

We've got one offer so far from Bristol to do biochemistry but that that's the non-vet back up option."I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." [George Best]0 -
I'm only going on someone else's info. Whether that's correct or not, I don't know.veronese68 said:
