GT Chucker trigger gear conversion

Hi all, first post here.
I’ve just brought my 12 year old, an old school GT Chucker, to replace his Hotrock and he cannot get on with the grip shifts. Can anyone recommend some trigger shifters for this?
Cheers
Daz.

Presumably it's on Shimano derailleurs with SRAM MRX shifters? (Yes I've had a Chucker). If so any Shimano MTB shifter for the same number of gears (looks like 8?) I'd look on ebay for some Deore/LX/XT.
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.

    Thanks for the help.

I've just done exactly this job to my kids' Cubes - both had Shimano RevoShift shifters and now sport Shimano Altus shifters, which they both prefer and find easier. The critical job is finding appropriate grips the right length and colour - I found a perfect turquoise match for the daughter's bike from Decathlon; the son's was just black.
