This is usually the thread I ignore the most. But I'll get it started for the nerds as Froome's new Pinarello looks rather nice to me.

It looks like he had them on in Japan

Usually they are not used in official marketing since they are not from Shimano.

Spot which berk in this photo who is smashing his brakes on into the corner and who is also coming back from career-threatening injuries incurred from an incident of an unwise, it turns out, high speed fuckwittery.
  • What's with that bent underside top tube? Is that to help Froome carry the damaged bike on his shoulder up Planche Des Belles Filles? ;)

Aren't they just a ripoff of the similar Oakleys? Like the fluoro pink though...

I got some jawbreakers for Christmas, absolutely terrified of scratching the lenses though. They have the Sutro and Flight Jackets which play of the same theme - the Sutro in particular look like the 1980s ones.

Think Rapha have something similar too?

I thought Bolle pre-dated the Oakley ones? I had several pairs of the Bolle fluoro pink or orange frames, and some of their mountaineering ones with the leather side cover bits to keep glare out, thought they were all from before Oakley got started.

    Same 😊😊😊

For the full Euro Ski-mo aesthetique! It's a strong look.

If you like them, you can now get these bad boys from Oakley.

Oakley seems to be losing a bit of luster again.

I had the Bolle Micro Edge back in 1990 and I loved them :)

    Rapha weren't doing them in 1990 ! :)

    Plenty of them around here...

They still make all the less fashionable ( 😋 ) ones.

Yeah, I know, I meant Rapha are also doing glasses which look like that.

Given I was 2 in 1990 I don't really remember what glasses people were wearing... I've just seen the iconic Lemond photos

Yeah, the jawbreakers are really popular around here.

I'm going skiing next week and considering taking them... I usually wear a helmet though and glasses/helmet looks wrong.

It does, however I can say the work very well. Definitely worth stashing them in the backpack for apres-ski cred ;). Funnily enough the faster you go the better they are.

  • I've used my Oakley Windjackets for skiing the past couple of years, so long as you've got the right lenses they're brilliant. They come with a removable foam brow pad to block the vents for cold days. Selling them this year though as I've far too many glasses kicking about and prefer the Sutros.

It's a real pity they can't seem to combine function and form.

Isn't the frame actually made in China or Taiwan?

De Rosa and Ribble had the same frame at a time with about a 2 grand difference for the badge
