Can anybody point me in the direction for a set of 29r tyres which would be a decent compromise between road and off road use with good puncture protection.
£80 budget.
Normally I ride roads and some gravel tracks with very little to none in the mud.

Continental Race King Protection 2.2". Get the Black Chilli Compound for extra grip. Should be about £32, cheaper for no BCC.
Whichever tyre you get, go tubeless. Tubeless plus sealant will not stop you getting punctures, but it will stop you getting flats as well as being lighter and quicker off the mark! I've had over two dozen punctures in each tyre and not one flat!
Tubeless conversion is easier than you think, lots of advice on here and YouTube.0
