If you are palling to ride 1000 km next year, I suggest you go and try some clothes on, buy some and start training.

What suits people best varies on their build, partly bike setup and partly personal preference.

For bib shorts I use mainly Castelli as I have found they fit me best and are comfortable for longer rides as well. Gore are a loser fit and also fine. The only way to really find out is try a few out and then do some longer rides to be sure. I buy all mine new in the sales to get a good discount.

For bib shorts, I like these:

For a jersey, go with merino/merino mix as it will stay fresher for longer.

Wear what you know. So if somethings good for your training - it will be good for your long ride.

Decent brands are Gore, Castelli, Assos, Rapha, La Passione, Lusso, etc etc. You really need to try to see what fits you best.

Wiggle's own DHB branded stuff is pretty good VFM too
