Hello everyone! Has anybody got any recommendations for overshoes? Currently sporting some Endura neoprene ones that are beginning to disintegrate in the Scottish rain. Avoiding Sealskinz as I've got some socks and gloves which don't impress much. Budget is up to £50. Cheers!

Planet X neoprene. Seem to last a lot longer than the smooth neoprene that seems to cut up quicker. Cheap too.

My cheap and cheerful £10 Planet X neoprene ones are holding up pretty well. Not sure I can see the point of spending more on something that's going to get trashed eventually.

ETA they appear to be £13 now and unless you're buying other stuff you'll pay delivery...

The Carnac branded ones are only £8 though...
  • Agree with the above- cheap Planet-X overs.

    I use these with...

    Decent pair of merino socks
Toe covers- either a cut-off pair of Velotoze* or some windtex type material toe covers (depending on whether it's wet or cold, or both if it's REALLY bad!)

*I notice Velotoze actually sell these now as an item. I cut a pair of my standard Velotoze overshoes up years ago for same purpose.

Unless you;re going to shell out for some Spatz type thing, I thing the above is cheapest/ most effective for several types of condition.
  • Cheers guys. A couple of options here I hadn't looked at!

Velotoze are great but leave you're feet wet from sweat.
I'm currently using cheap DHB ones that I've sprayed with some fabric sealant designed for car interiors/soft tops for waterproofing (Gtechnic I1)

Full Velotoze do indeed leave your feet wet, but we're not talking about using the full oversock- just the "Toez", version that covers just the front part of your foot (or a regular pair cut-off as suggested).

Decent Merino socks will keep your feet warm, and if they do get wet, they should retain the heat. Covering the front of your foot with the Toez or some other Belgian bootie windtex type thing under your cheap neoprene overshoe will keep the wind chill off.
