I bought a Pinarello Asolo from the 90s on eBay with an Ultegra triple chainring. The bottom bracket bearings are now grinding like hell and need to be replaced. The issue is, I currently live in Kinshasa/ Congo where it is impossible to get vintage bike parts (let alone ANY road bike parts) so I will need to find this in the US or Germany and have it shipped.
Would anyone know what kinds of specs the bottom bracket needs to have (threads, width etc) and where to find one that would fit this frame? And does the axle need to be longer because it is a triple chainring crank or is it the same width as for a double chainring?
As far as I’m concerned it doesn’t have to be Shimano, as long as it is compatible with my Ultegra crankset, and runs smoothly. The frame's serial number has four digits and is in the high 5000s in case it helps determining the exact age of the frame (which I don't know),

Need to know which model Ultegra triple chainset. Is it an old square taper job, Octolink 1 or Octolink 2?

I'd have thought the BB shell is likely to be Italian threaded, but easily determined by measuring the width of the shell. Italian is 70mm, BS is 68mm

BB spindle length is longer for a triple than a double. Measure the old one.

Good luck finding an Italian thread, Octolink 1, triple compatible cartridge BB!

  • It's a pina so Italian thread. Triple ultegra mean octaLink version 1 (6500 9 speed chainset) or hollowtech II BB (6700 10 speed)
I cant remember if there was an 11 speed triple now. To tired to look up.
