Does it work?

I see there's some guff about new chainring spacing meaning this isnt "advisable", but does anyone have any real world experience of this?

They said same about 36x53 not not working, but it works absolutely fine...

No idea, but they say the same about 52/34 and that works fine too! Sorry to be of no help...

Here you go, from the Shimano Compatibility Chart, it says they should work...

  • Yeah, reckon it'll "be reet", ta!
  • It’s not about the mech and chainset. 52/34 or 53/36 should not be used because the jump is too big, so that’s why the mech might not shift properly (chain might fall). The mech will 100% work fine with 52/36 or 53/39.
  • After riding the following combinations, I can confirm (for my own satisfaction), that:

9070 front mech with 6800 series 53x36 works flawlessly

9070 front mech with 8000 series 52x36 works flawlessly
