There is obviously some mass theft of mojo's at the moment.

The soft play area would have become redundant soon anyway so don't fret.

Average Sunday so far and to come. Will be largely out or away for the next couple of weekends so better get a few things sorted. Onwards to mundanity.

nippy ride, but finished with a very pleasant laze in the sun at sheltered table outside cafe

think one of the freehub bearings is on the way out, started getting some creaks in high gears, time for a swap out

Is that what this is? I get the same. Creaks on pulling away or battering a tall gear.

mine is the from the tiny bearings used in the dts190 fhb that lightweight use, they're really too small for the job, seem to need changing every couple of years

but creaking under high torque can be many other things, bb, skewer, etc., you need to follow a process of elimination, swap over the wheel is an easy check to see if it's likely to be fhb (assuming you have a spare ready to go...)

  • Recovery day here. Spent yesterday doing powertool-based gardening activities and were both seriously knackered as a result. So, big brekky, coffee before *and* after the dog walkies, then off to borrow a table saw from a mate to do stuff.

Rode new bike on trainer, gears need adjusting. Hmmm. Also will be a better fit when new seatpost arrives which has some setback instead of straight.

    Pizza dinner, home made, excellent.

Hoppy is big. That means he will put pressure on his bike that WILL elicit creaks and groans from the whole caboodle. Good luck finding them all :D

Afternoon, speedy 50K this morning with some random Spaniard chasing me most of it. Found some lovely climbs out the back of Millbrook I didn't know about.

Now flake, maybe have a flake, watch the GP then out for dinner and some whiskey, I do fancy a nice dram or eight...
  • bambino came 3rd, first silverware for him. much delight

i dropped a boat on my broken toes so now have three broken, not previous two. much pain and sharp intake of breath.

now scoffing fresh tomato soup laced with hot diggedy dog from rat pack c.2012.

    Pah. It's a recent creak. :)

It might just be because the bike is filthsome and unloved, due to lack of garden to work in and because I've left my work stand at the house. Also it won't go in the 11 tooth cog any more. It probably needs a clean and an index.

strip, clean, fiddle. and then when you've done that, do the bike.

its always quite relaxing to do a full service on a bike and make everything squeak free. do it. do it. do it order the new cables etc now. do it.

So if you meet me, have some courtesy, have some sympathy, and some taste
Use all your well learned politesse or I'll lay your soul to waste.

Actually many drivers were pretty considerate today. Ride ridden, 1st hour was hard, leg muscles just not in it, but started to ease off and ride became more enjoyable. Weather turned showery for last bit, now need to decide whether to venture outdoors for some gardening stuff, or just watch La Vuelta. Decisions, decisions.

I was going to say Piña was right, but then he asked a question that had already been answered. So whilst he was right about Hopper he’s still all kinds of wrong.
Hope you enjoyed the slow start thistle. Ride has been rid, very slow in places because it took in some very busy tourist spots, but then it is called the London Sightseer. Rode with a chap I didn’t know, turns out he went to the same school as me but he started when I was in the 6th form. Maybe next year Hoppy.

Oh wheels remind me, LBS fixed my wheel, well I say fixed it has a new hub etc, seems alright.

Certainly not straining it with high torque maybe on its upper weight limit #cake. Still need to find some decent brake pads for them.

Bottles of oxygen might be quite handy as well - that's over 1,000m higher than the top of Mont Blanc...
