The recce, given the posting time.
Shiite driving though.
Yep it was during the recce, but it must have broken an oil line or something as it dumped alot of oil/fluid on that corner as a result and led to frantic cement dust application and sweeping to get it cleaned up in time. I've said before on cases like that where a driver of any course vehicle 'crashes', they should be kicked off the race/barred from team driving responsibility for a period of time
Just watched the ITV4 highlights with the benefit of a load of beer and the course doesn't look sensible even in my addled state. Will try more beer and watch +1 and see if it looks any more sane...
(Spoiler: No)
PS: Because old habits die hard, Troia, 5 minutes lost on a 15 minute stage. That's quite... something.

He’s written his car off and the bikes on the roof, Everyone makes mistakes but that was appalling judgement. Agree get him away from the race
I don't really like these short "for show" TTTs, albeit some large and unexpected time gaps materialised but at least it is underway now.
The Eurosport post race coverage was disappointing. Neither Wiggins nor Smith seemed to have seen the volume of water on the course and were attributing it to someone in the crowd dropping a drinks bottle. If they are paid to analyse the race they should pay more attention. With that out of the way, I'm hoping that it gets back to the high (IMO) standard set during the TdF coverage.
All that salt made me weary, or may be it's because it's not on until 10.00 pm! Note to self also, that the ads still occassionally refer to TdF....
Just as an aside, if treaded tyres on bikes are unnecessary to deal with wet surfaces, why do TT bikes fall over when a race surface gets a bit of a paddling pool spilled on it?

Think it was partly due to riders heading full pelt into a corner and not anticipating a small stream running across the road as well as the slipperiness of hot weather roads when they get wet... plus in a TTT it just takes the guy on the front to wobble and the whole train ploughs into the back of them.

That was an important point of clarification on ITV highlights of stage 2. Previously they had suggested it was a stray hosepipe.
