Hi

I have a trek domane 2.3 with the standard bontrager wheels. Im thinking on buying this one for the turbo trainer -- https://www.evanscycles.com/shimano-rs1 ... l-EV353526

im not sure if this wheel is better than my current one, and i should use this one for the road, and the current one for the turbo trainer.

Can any of you advise on this? I dont really know at which parameters i should look when comparing wheels

Thanks

The wheel in the link is a front wheel. Not much use as a turbo wheel...

Nope, this question is about which wheel is better. The other one was about to buy a spare wheel, but now I wonder which wheel is better

go for the £30 one off the other thread if you insist on buying one.

The wheel you’ve listed has a higher rate of mechanical energy return by virtue of the different spokes and lacing pattern.

It will make for a more realistic “road feeling” on the turbo and create less environment specific performance improvement. Ensure you wear compression socks for post turbo recovery for maximum effect. You should also consider your post turbo nutrition to replace lost minerals and possibly whey proteins to facilitate muscle repair and growth.

Ensure you have a turbo specific tyre or you’ll mash a normal road tyre in no time.

Finally only ever use dura ace cassettes on a turbo wheel.

Maybe that’s too much. I just need to know which wheel to use on the turbo and which one on the road

Get a tricycle and use both.

Or a tandem and get someone else to do the work

Use the new wheel on the turbo. Then you'll still have matching wheels when you're out on the road.

Why are you worrying about turbo wheels anyway? The sun is shining; get outside and listen to the birdsong!

I don't know the history of this, but what people seem to be trying to say is: they're both low-end 'budget' wheels so it won't make a hint of difference.

    Don't over think it.
