Di2 weirdness

Hi. Something really weird has happened to my di2. I left it overnight to charge, and since then when I shift down the cassette (to about a third way down) it automatically goes into the big ring! Ie puts itself into the big ring without me touching that shifter.

Anyone got any idea what's happened?

Cheers

  • Sounds like you've got synchro shift enabled.
  • Ah! I've checked syncro shift online and I'm certain that's it, thanks.

Am I right in now thinking that double tapping the button on the junction box will get me back to manual?
  • I believe so, I've got Di2 but haven't enabled synchro (yet). Keep meaning to have a play sometime.
  • Ok cheers. I'll give it a go this evening. Thanks again.

or you can Bluetooth/connect a laptop using the Shimano e-tube software and play about with the settings/update firmware etc...

I've had full synchro enabled for quite a while now.. I use the buttons on the right hand lever to change up & down the gears, leaving the left lever big(er) buttons free to control my wahoo - really handy in the winter when warm gloves make the little buttons on the wahoo not so easy to press.

Would struggle without synchro shifting on a long ride. Left arm goes numb due to restricted blood flow to it making changing on the front difficult, especially with mechanical.
I ride a bike. Doesn't make me green or a tree hugger. I drive a car too.

I tried synchro shift but hated it! Just shows it’s not for everyone - what I disliked was going from a downhill (big ring) to uphill (steep enough to require little ring and bottom gear!) as I shifted to the little ring it would drop me down the rear block to get the next lowest ratio - which is really clever, but I wanted bottom gear! So swapped back to manual shifting, which I absolutely love.

Simply speed shift down on the rear by holding the switch down. but, Synchro can still be overridden during a ride by operating the front shifter in advance of your climb.
