2013 Hardrock combined shifter replacement

Hi all,

First post!

Ive got a 2013 Hardrock 26" Disc brake which has combined brake levers and shifters...

Looking to upgrade the brakes and subsequently need to get separate shifters.

Is it just a case of replacing the actual shifter or the rest of the gear mechanism? Any advice on which one to go for?

    seems like its an 8x3 gearing, so all you need is a pair of Shimano 8x3 shifters and new brakes. Pretty easy to change if you know how to adjust the gears, if not there are plenty of how to videos on youtube. You can probably still get them new or see whats available 2nd hand on ebay etc.

    edit - for example these are on chain reaction cycles, its worth getting new gear cables too
