Morning, still raining here , I’ve just walked the dog in the rain and wind, having some breakfast at the moment wondering if it’s worth going out on the bike.

Ning, after melting in arras and chalons en champagne dhl's are glad of a cool 22 foot wandering around Strasbourg. Major plus is all the expensive shops are shut.

Quite like the not steaming hot nights which means we can get some decent sleep. Ordinary Sunday today which means coffee, refereeing hound fights, jobs etc. At least the holiday is getting closer.

Kayaking, SUP boarding, going on a glass bottomed boat tour in a couple of hours, then a snorkelling trip on Tuesday. This feels more like a holiday than endless bloody shopping malls. Lovely. :D
  • Lovely ride in the sun, beer and now vino collapso. Mrs and kids away watching Jess Glynne in concert so home alone. Right, John Wick 3 here we come, can't beat a bit of mindless violence. And there's also the film to watch...

9 and a half house fighting with a Porker exhaust system and seized bolts and i'm knackered.
It rained non stop yesterday and non stop today. Bollox to it.

I've been to Chalons en Champagne in early spring 2003. Vineyards were all frosted up.

    If you must know...

Seized bolts are seemingly synonymous with Porkers. This may seem trivial but I need the indie Porker bloke to sort out a few (known*) issues.
One of the known issues will require removal of the exhaust system.
So a quick check and yes, the bolts on the elaborate exhaust system were seized. Instead of Indie Porker bloke charging me silly money, I can expedite the task by sorting these things thereby making it very easy to do the job - costing me less.
*I was quoted £4300 to sort all the issues but I reckon I can get that down to £1500 by doing what I can and leave the rest to the Indie specialist.

What are the issues you can’t do? It’s only a car, can’t be that difficult.
My mate’s Porker is in the latest Classic Cars mag, it’s got very good provenance making it rather valuable.

Oooh which classic car mag, what edition and what Porker is it?

    Right, let me see...

August edition of Classic Cars, lots of Alfa’s on the front and a silver 69 911 that belonged to someone called Steve.
Surely you can do driveshaft and pipes, or does shaft need balancing?

    Shaft needs balanced, yes.
Anything to do with draining the cooling system requires a vacuum operation to remove air.

Whilst I might have the courage to try certain jobs, I have no experience of doing it.
Some say it's simple. Others, no matter how diligent, ended up with all sorts of problems.

Today I did both air con condensers, dryer/receiver and the twin air horns whilst I had the bumper off.
Bumper removal was a complete PITA, condensers et al was a doddle. That saved me well over a grand.

My Cooper S needs some attention and CBA to farnarkle about with it, but I’m sure the bill will be epic if I take it to a mechanic. Minor oil leak somewhere, and a miss/stutter under full throttle. Knocking in back right suspension too. Grrrrr.
