It’s due to landslides I think0

Just seen Rob Hayles saying the same.
Will it be the first half or second?0 -
Only the final climb.

Such a carp finish to this Tour, they should re-run the full stage 19 when the Iseran descent is safe and run the full stage 20 when deemed safe.
Shirley ~60Km with just Val Thorens climb is going to have little to no bearing on the GC, may as well give Bernal his "act of God" win now.================

That sounds quite a simple thing. It’s not like they arrange these road closures 11 months ahead or anything.0 -

Wake up sheeple! Can't you see this is all a ASO/UCI/Ineos conspiracy? You and I know that they could sh1t an organisational miracle if they wanted too. It's only a bit of sport, Mun. Relax and enjoy the racing.0 -

What a piece of garbage
Zero opportunity place riders up the road, train all the way.
The Tour size comes back to bite them in the ass. No plan B due to the road closures needed for the caravan etc.
Otherwise there is a completely obvious plan B.
Back up the St Jean Valley and use the Col de La Madeleine and then up to Val Thorens.
Must be around 110-120kms: Perfect."Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0 -

Also, no chance of doing something different due to stupid short length of stage.

I'm talking about starting from Albertville. It's no more than 50kms from the Madeline. Up and over is another 45kms and you are just about on the Val Thorens ascent from there. (Moutiers less than 10kms)

On the positive side (I'm scraping the barrel here), though there won't be space for advanced Movistar tactics, this will be crazily full-on all the way.Warning No formatter is installed for the format0

Perceived wisdom these days is that shorter stages are more exciting, right?...
Last year Quintana took 28 seconds (and 47 on G in third) on the [planned] 65km stage 17 *grasps at straws*0 -

Going there in 4 weeks, and that was on the itinerary, as is Tignes.
It would take 4 years to fix in the UK. Fingers crossed.
Anyway, tomorrow should be full gas.The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

That is quite some grasp. 3 climbs packed into those 65kms and not 1 km of flat.
Best fit stage I can recall was in the 2009 Giro, flat (more or less) from Chieti and up the Blockhaus. That one was 70 odd kms. A few seconds difference between the main protagonists, Pellizotti having slipped away."Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0 -
Apparently the massive advertising caravan which passes 2 hours before the riders has been cancelled however the race as it stands still go,s ahead as we speak. This could change though according to some reports.ademort
