Repair stand recs

I'm looking to buy my first repair stand. Having had a search, the last posts on here about them are a few years old. I was wondering if there were any particular recommendations. I've seen some decent prices for the Park Tool PCS 9 and the newer 9.2. The 10.2 at about c£160 is way more than I want to spend. Ideally I'd like to keep it as close to £100 as possible for something with some longevity.
thank you

I have the 9.2, it is perfect for what I wanted and I wouldn't bother spending any more than that. I bought mine at Sigma Sports and got a good deal (from memory it was about £75), it happens that I live within walking distance of them and saw it at a discounted price on the shop floor but if you shop around I'm sure you'll not pay much more than that. Well worth the money, they'll last forever with the sort of use I put it through.0 -
If you want the best then park tools is probably the one, but you will pay a premium price (even if discounted).
My £25 workstand from lidl is now about 6 years old, has been used a lot and is brilliant, and still in perfect condition.0 -
I've had one of these for years - still works fine.

Their new workstation stand is more portable - the updated version has fixed a few flaws:

They can be had for around £100 online.0 -
the park stands are great, Ive got one of the clamping type thats at least twenty years old and a more recent portable one that is brilliant. The portable one is a proper solid bit of kit and I use it every day. I bought it to take to events but the quality is shop quality. its not flimsy in the way that the name might indicate. theres a link below.
Its very expensive but if you can afford it I would recommend one of these

Works very well and is a big improvement on my cheap seat post clamping stand.0 -
The Park Tool ones will last a lifetime. I'd save up and get the PCS10. They can often be found for a bit less than RRP if you shop around and look out for discount codes.
Nothing wrong with the PCS9 but the 10 is that bit more user friendly and if you're going to be using it for years and years it will be worth the extra.0 -
I had the Park Tool PRS 22.2 which was good, but very heavy. I sold it and bought a TACX Spider Team Workshop stand. Much lighter to carry around and copes with the annoying rear brake position of the Merida Reacto under the BB easily. £99.99 from Decathlon.

The problem with those kind is they may not work if you have a bike with mudguards.0 -
I ended up going with Wiggle's own brand. It was cheaper than others, I'll report back on quaility when it arrives. The issue with the Tacx one is height. I tinker with my bike in a basement and don't have lots of height to play with, so a clamp seems best.0

Shame because you extend the legs to whatever height you want. You don't have to have them completely extended.I ride a bike. Doesn't make me green or a tree hugger. I drive a car too.0 -
I've got a BikeHut £40 stand from Halfords.
Nice and solid, can clamp either top tube or seat post.
Bit too heavy for carrying about, but in the garage it's just fine.

I bought the X-Tools stand, Wiggle's own brand. So far I'm very happy with it. It feels sturdy, packs away neatly and does everything I need at the moment. Thanks for all the suggestions.0

I bought a park tool stand 8 years ago and it’s still going strong , a mate recently bought his bike stand from Aldi and it looks a better design, equally as well made and a hell of a lot less
If I had to buy again the Aldi is a no brainer

PCS9 owner here. Must be at least 6 years old, still as good as new and gets used regularly. Cannot fault it. Cost about £80 and worth every penny. Typical quality from Park and a lot "meatier" than it looks in photos. I thought the legs looked a bit spindly in the photos but they are about 40mm diameter and rock solid. Just bought a stand from merlin https://www.merlincycles.com/bike-tools-workstand-49075.html
Fantastic value for money.0 -
I bought the Revolution stand way back which bike magazines said was one of the best it is this one
https://www.wiggle.co.uk/x-tools-home-m ... kshop-mat/
It has never let me down and has been really heavily used

Word of caution, the Revolution and stands I have and the other person has DO TAKE the larger mountain bike frames see my image, many will not and you may have to just clamp it round the seat post which means it sways a lost and is a pain to work on0 -

I had one of these for a few years and was really happy with it until it broke. I replaced it with a park one without realising that the main tube didn't fold down or anyting. I need to work out what ill be doing with it in a few weeks when i get rid of my shed"Unfortunately these days a lot of people don’t understand the real quality of a bike" Ernesto Colnago0 -
