Has anyone had a cycling helmet custom painted ?

I’m not sure if it’s possible, or cost effective but I’ve seen car and motorcycle helmets done and I fancy buying a Protone and having it colour matched to a bike.

Has anyone here done it ?

Yes I've seen custom helmets. There's a club called pirate juice that I see around and they all have very nice custom paintjobs on bikes and helmets. No idea of cost.

It'd be easier and cheaper to get a white bike and a white helmet like I did.

Hmm, interesting. Sadly I don’t get on with Giro helmets, hence the Protone.

Cougie, that’s the sensible man’s choice. I have a white one on order as a base. Thanks for the tip re Pirate Juice.

Me too. But my son's the same. He bought my Atmos off me because it matched his bike. Now he's bought a new bike and had to buy another helmet to match that. Baffling.

But maybe I'm the odd one out. Yesterday I was passed by (among many others) a chap on a black and blue Cube with head to toe matching Cube kit. Or perhaps he was a sponsored rider??

And the fact that he was enjoying himself the problem is?
I ride a bike. Doesn't make me green or a tree hugger. I drive a car too.

I'm not keen on matchy matchy stuff now. I prefer the kits with no obvious names as they go with anything.

Back in the day the only decent kit you could get was copies of pro kit so we all had them.

My mate would often turn up with shorts socks jersey and mitts from four different teams....

Didn't say it was a problem, just that I remembered him. Couldn't tell you what the other dozen or so overtakers were riding or wearing, but I remembered Cube man because he was so spectacularly well colour matched to the bike, which could easily have been the same bike my son rides. He'd have appreciated the effort, but it's never occurred to me to try to match my kit / helmet with my bike.

    Each to their own.

    ah lads..calm down now :D

I'm the kind of guy who prefers 'matching collars and cuffs' and am just wondering about the cost of replicating the below style onto another helmet. There are several helmets I don't get on with (Met for example have too large a brow, Giro don't fit properly etc) but Kask and Abus are fine for me. The paint job on the Met Rivale looks fab in the flesh and it'd be good if other manufacturers provided a 'custom' service. So I just wondered if anyone had found someone who could do it.

    1st world problems eh ? :)

No problem. Still a bit tragic though...

OT but my wife "makes" me wear matching kit. Tends to all be the same brand, but for Fathers day she bought me new bib shorts to match one of my Jersey's, she also got me 4 pairs of socks, each pair matched to the same make and colour as my jerseys.
When I bought an Aeroad she then bought me matching Canyon kit, luckily it was a bad fit so all went back. I've told her plenty of times, but I think she now does it to make me look more ridiculous than I already do! (And its her who says "oohhh, Fabien has put some weight on since retiring" when we see someone in Trek Factory Racing gear!)
