So those above are my best choices,I think, for my CWV purchase with my limit of £900 from the shops I’m allowed
I’m fat,50 and want the bike for a daily 3 mile each way hilly commute, club rides, fitness and charity rides when I get my distance up.
Being able to have a blast down the canal towpath isn’t essential, but a bonus if possible
Please help because I’m a bit overwhelmed !!

Buy an Allez with mounts for guards and panniers and for the model that is less than 700.
If 'road biking' finds you out and it is not for you, you wont lose much money in selling it on.
Otherwise any bike will do but not many regret buying an Allez.0 -
Any bike bought from a reputable supplier for £900 will do what you want.
The first absolute essential is to get one that fits you.
Then go with the one that makes you smile.0 -

Would agree with this poster, have subsequently bought much more expensive bike with all the "bells and whistles" but still return to the Allez, it's a bit like a comfort blanket.0
