Riding to Wembley Stadium

Rather than fork out £30 for the car park and get stuck there for an hour getting out can anyone comment on the wisdom of parking the car somewhere are doing the last 5-10 miles of the journey by bike ?

I'm aware Wembley is not in the best area but I'm thinking with a couple of decent locks - thickish chain and padlock and a D Lock - an old bike should be relatively safe for a few hours or am I kidding myself and London bike thieves will have it away as soon as I'm inside the ground ?

If that part of the plan is sensible is there somewhere I could park a car - I'm coming from the M1 - and ride in without having to pay a congestion charge or brave dangerous traffic ? I'm a competent rider but I don't know the area at all.

Thanks

Why don't you use public transport? Wembley Park is a no go with massive queues especially when leaving, however Wembley Central is a 15-20 min walk away and is never too busy. You can get the London Overground from Watford Junction to Wembley Central.

With regards to cycling, it strikes me as being too bloody busy to bother.

I would normally park at Stanmore tube station and get the tube the four stops down. The station is just off the M1: about 5 minutes drive.

There are around 400 spaces but it does tend to fill up. There is on the road parking nearby but whether you want to park outside someones house is up to you: its not a bad area in the main. I can't remember how much it is to park but less than 5 quid I think.....the NCP have taken it over and put the price up. Its now £6 a day which is still less than half the charge at my local station!

Edit to add... if you are going for the playoff finals, you will need to prebook, see https://www.ncp.co.uk/find-a-car-park/c ... e-stn-lul/

Yeah Stanmore was the other option and what I've done a couple of times before but I normally on street park but it's going to be a Monday so I'm guessing everywhere will have permit holders only restrictions. Sounds like cycling down isn't a popular option so may see if I can book a parking spot at Stanmore.

    Do not get the tube.

Go to Wembley Stadium Station which is overground. Beaconsfield and High Wycombe both have multi stories designed for commuters so you should not have a problem.

Do not get the tube - you will thank me later

Just to point out Wembley Stadium station is Chiltern line and not Overground.

West Ruislip station is easily accessible from M40/A40.
