Hi there, just hoping to get a little bit of advice. There is a strange clicking noise whenever I'm pedaling. It is always at the same point, approx 10 o'clock on the non chainring side. It sounds like a gears are out of alignment, but they have only just been fixed. Could it be a bottom bracket? Or something much easier?

    Can of worms........

    Try

Skewers (front and rear) tight enough,
Cables not catching around from mech
Saddle rails and post cleaned and properly tightened
Seat post clamp clean and tightened
Bar and stem clean and bolts tightened properly
Headset has no grit in it
Check bb for play or roughness. Remove crank and feel.
    Crank clean and fitted
    Chainring bolts tight
Cable guide under bb not damaged
Check the guide is fixed properly and not able
    To slide side to side
    Chainring and spider still true

I’m sorry if you don’t see the problem shouting out to you it could be literally anything.

    Good luck!

What is the bottom bracket type?
How long has it been in?
Has it ever disassembled and inspected?
Has the bike done many foul weather rides?
    Much more info is required.
Just it makes a noise is b all use.

If it's at the same point every revolution (regardless of gear choice), you can likely narrow it down to BB, chainset or saddle/seatpost.

If it only happens when seated, it's probably either the seatpost clamp or saddle rail clamp - are these tight enough? Has some play developed where the saddle rails join the base of the saddle?

If it happens both in and out of the saddle, it's probably BB or chainset related. Is there any lateral play in the BB? Is it greased and sufficiently tightened? Are the pedals threads tight enough (this is often the culprit for me)? Shimano crank arm bolts should be done up to about 10Nm, which is more than most other groupset bolts. Did you do screw in the pre-load cap properly before doing those bolts up?

Good luck, those little clicks can be buggers to silence!

I was going to say pedals, and if your a Speedplay user especially, check the screws in the cleats are all present and tight.

It sounds like it’s time to burn it and hit it with a sledge hammer.

    Sorry :(

Sue the person who fixed the gears.
