Hi, wiggle have this on sale at good price, but is it quite outdated and how does it compare with more modern version?

I have the “old” version and it works perfectly, although I have no idea what additional features the newer version offers . . .
The one on sale is only 53/39Tx11-28 170mm crank though . . .Got a place in the Pyrenees.

Apparently the new one has a cooler looking crank, better brakes (the older ones are still mega) and the rear mech can handle a higher tooth cassette. That's it. Shifting is shifting unless you're some ultra shift snob.0

It's easy to find the difference online about 8050 vs 6870
My viewpoint is: not necessary to follow the fashion.
6870 can do 95% of 8050.
The only problem of old UT 68XX is its cranksets, whose glue is not good enough. Some people's 6800 crankset was degummed while riding.
Thus, 6870 with R8000 crankset maybe a good choice.0 -

Plus the hidden buttons that are useful for controlling devices or setting shifting up like eTap.I ride a bike. Doesn't make me green or a tree hugger. I drive a car too.0 -
I was planning on keeping my compact ultegra 6800 chainset and selling the one this comes with, the size available. Was the only drawback from buying for me0
