    Ciao

KInda funky aren't they? Light & aero but hold the road really well and once you get into position/cadence they shoooooooom along.

I'm intrigued to try it when its summer - dry, bright, light wind - you know, the stuff that never really happens when you are out on a bike but only when you are sitting in the car in the traffic and the bambini are killing each other.

rear brake cable trimmed down - as expected, no guiding tube in the top tube, so pop off cover, feed in cable, fish around with surgical pick, fish out cable.

would it really have been too much to glue in a plastic tube for the cable to run along?

Yeah but think of the serious disadvantage of those extra grams.

Could be worse, I re did a couple of Specialized's they have anti rattle foam blocks in the frame, great idea but you end up stabbing the cables into them an getting no where. my usual magnetic kit or plastic tubes were useless.

Cut the frame open along it’s length, fit cable with ease, glue halves together. Use gaffer tape if you’re in a rush.

but with a bland groupset. the thing is, some people lust after ultegra and will argue that its the best thing ever, but its just bland.

chuck Red on the S3 (or la Worsley as its now known) and it will be mega.

    Ahem...
  • Oh - update on it as a winter bike.

25s make it track nicer than 23s but slow down the cornering. Some will prefer that, some won't.

The aero frameset/80/90 combo is fine in today's force 4 all over the shop winds even though the tyres do "lightbulb" a bit now they are 25s.

Ultegra brakes are still spongy and and not as direct as SRAM. They still stop you fine on 60kp/h descents in the wet though, so no real dramas. Some will prefer the Ultegra feel, some won't. I'll be swapping it all for Force asap.

Still no desire to fit mudguards.

Quick update on it if anyone cares/is thinking of buying one.

It’s still lovely looking - paintjob and frame shape haven’t aged and it’s still lush. Still turns heads and gets nice comments wherever it goes. Still the best looking bike on here apart from Dirk.

Crppya Ultegra groupset has gone, it’s now Red. Looks nice, lighter, nicer shape, works better. All round better in every single way. Still mechanical and it functions perfectly as a GT winning groupset should do, which is far far better than Ultegra that has never won a brass razoo in its life apart from plaudits from clubbies who also get turned on by mudguards.

Still see no point of electronic on it when Red works this good.

Caliper brakes more than enough when you know how to brake. No need for discs on it.

‘Bars replaced by Prime carbons that are really lovely - carbon, light, stiff, very nice and flat so very comfy in aero position. Not too bad price wise either so v recommended.

Stem changed for minus 17 job for more aero, innit.

Wheels replaced by 85mm Prime carbon tubs black edition. Far far better than Hunts, still tubular as that is a proper tyre. Had not problems with wind catching them have been used in wind, rain and sun. Dirt cheap, v good value for money. Look pukka.

23s are back on as I preferred them to the 25s. Still running at 900 psi as that’s a proper tyre pressure.

Loads of bolts replaced with black ones as black is faster.

    Bad points:

Stupid BBRight bb limits crank choice and is stupid.

Internal cabling is a massive pita but you expect that and is stupid.

Scratched easily when someone drops a fully loaded Dawes Galaxy on it.

If you want a new seat post or little clip things for the frame they cost a ridiculous stupid fortune.

Overall, if you can get a deal go for it. No need for electronic or discs, get a sweet caliper/mechanical one.

Who says telephone nowadays? Do you not have access to google photo / apple photo via your laptop? Do you not back up your photos? I would find it hard to believe that you don't have a photo of the update bike full-stop?

Why am i asking so many questions?

    Do you know?

    Can i stop myself?

    Can I?

It’s a telephone though innit? You pick it up and telephone people. Telephone.

Nah don’t need that. Got it all on my telephone.

Updated piccies are there - if they are trash I’ll grab some new ones if the light is good at home.

Always ask questions. Never stop asking. Ask me why.
