Hi i was looking at some new tyres for my Road bike and i seen some and they said they had a load of 75Kg,

i am 132 kg and cycling to lose weight, does that mean i i should not use these tyres, or infact am i too heavy for a road bike? and should got a MTB

do bikes have a max user weight,

thanks

Some frames will have a stated max user weight. Tyres generally don't, not sure why/how that would work in practice. Just need to lower/increase pressure to compensate for whatever weight the tyre is supporting..

Check the size of your current tyres if they were OK and buy something the same width or larger if they fit. Being heavier on road mainly means things wear out faster and you may want wider tyres to make the ride more comfortable. I am 100kg and found 23mm tyres a real bone shaker a few years ago due to the high pressure I had to run them at. Now use wider tyres and it is much smoother, also with lower tyre pressures.

What tyres are these ? I've never heard of a weight limit for tyres.

it's per tyre... 75 kg is standard... at 132 kg, with a 60/40 distribution of mass rear/front, you will put around 80 kg on the rear, so just over the limit
