Read a raft of reviews, but interested to hear of forumites experiences / opinions please.

Looks like the price has started to come down to something approaching that of the 4000.

I have them on my Wilier Cento10 Air.
Size 25mm on Fulcrum Speed 40 Wheels. They are much the same as 4000's to fit (easy) and size up at 25.4mm on my wheels. Only 500 miles on them, but no issues so far.
I would recommend them, I paid £42 each for mine.

I have them size 25. 2,00 K, seem fine, make a funny noise, like i have a flat tyre

Sounds good, Mantel have them for £38 each currently.
Can't figure out if the 25mm tyres will fit safely on my Scott CR1 rear, clearance is tight.

That noise must be a bit off putting!

First ride tomorrow on some 25mm 4000 II tyres, and running with latex tubes, see what all the fuss is about.

Thanks NO, you are eagle eyed!

Went through TCB, and lopped a further £3.68 off (they had one of those £3 offers on) so ended up being just under £72 the pair, and despatched already.

I run a set of GP5000 25mm on Bora Ultra 50mm rims with Conti Supersonic tubes, which have recently replaced GP4000's
They certainly feel fast and I haven't noticed any flat tyre noise on mine.
I won the first two races of the season on them too, though I can't let the tyres have all the credit ;)

I've just had GP5000 tubeless fitted to my Giant SLR carbon wheels. They seem to roll well with nice ride feel and dampen vibrations well. They seem more grippy than my previous Gavia Race 1 tyres.
  • The question is though, are they worth the extra above the GP4000iiS? I'm going to need to change mine out next month or so, so the question is are they worth the extra cash? I'm on 25mm, Swiss DT PR1400 wheels if it matters(doesn't) and using inner tubes.

If you can still get 4000's under £30, then I would stick with them.
I imagine the stock on 4000's is running out so you may not have the choice for much longer.
  • Wiggle selling 4000s for £28 plus I get a discount through work so maybe stick with them. Cheers.

That is what you need to decide, if your going to race them then I would say yes, if not then probably worth sticking with GP4000s if at the right price.

Def not racing, purely recreational riding. If they were "that" better then I'd consider paying the premium but it sounds like they are good but not necessarily worth it for the average cyclist. Thanks for replies on this.

I've literally only had my first ride on 4000's this last weekend, as had fitted them to my new 'dream' aero bike.

However, as it is my dream bike, I have fitted latex tubes, and deep (50mm) section wheels, but still want to maximise performance - hence the interest, and subsequent purchase of the 5000's.

The one ride old 4000's will be migrating onto my gf's bike which is running some fairly well used, rubino pro tyres - which in fact punctured for her at the weekend.

In fact my gf's bike is also a CR1, so that will become an unuspecting test mule to see whether it will safely fit a 25 on the rear - if it does, then I will replicate on my CR1.
