Action Cams - software?

Looking for a bit of advice, Ive got an action cam (not a GoPro) and while im very happy with the quality of video and photos it produces, it takes forever to try and do anything decent with it.
I know GoPro has Quik software, which seems extremely easy to use - it can even make a highlights reel with music on its own I think, but what similar software is out there for non-gopro cameras? Does any exist?
Thanks

You can try the Garmin Virb software. It is free and will work with any video files it can open. It does work with GoPro footage.0
