Hi, just a quick question, I have a Enve 2.0 fork ( supplied from frame builder to go with bike ) - supplied was an FSA integrated headset, which fits perfectly - the crown race diameter is 1.125 ( according enve ) and I just cannot get the crown race on the fork.....

The headset is 1 1/8 and just pops in the frame nice and easily.

Anyone have any experience with this fork - crown race size..? Or is it more the case of whacking it on ( evenly of course ).

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Cheers

Take it to your LBS and get them to do it.

I had the same problem with my last build. However I approached it, without the correct tools I could not get the crown race onto the fork. Tried using a piece of plastic piping over the steerer tube as a drift but just could not get enough force to push the crown race on. Was mainly worried about not getting it properly square on the steerer so gave up and took it to my LBS.

I think they charged me something like £5 or£10 to do it.Certainly worth it to avoid all the hassle and possible damage if you go at it with the wrong tools

i've got an enve 2.0 fork, just cleaned and greased the area, whomped the race on - i've got a proper crown race tool, the first whomp was probably enough, but i gave it two to be sure

if you haven't got the tool or a decent substitute (plastic tube may deform under impact) best to get lbs to do it

how about cutting the steerer? if you aren't sure about it might be best to get lbs to do that at the same time
my bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny

    Thanks for your replies..appreciated.

In the end I took it to the Lbs and they guy there checked the crown race, went to the back and smashed it on...took 6 seconds for him to do it and he didn't charge me...legend.

The right tools and a bit of confidence, knowledge and experience goes a long away apparently :D

I cut the steerer myself, that was surprisingly easy...

    Problem officially solved!!
